Somali pirates release cargo ship, ransom paid

This is a totally preventable problem. A 200 foot tanker should not be able to be taken over by an armed rowboat of Somalis. It's ridiculous. If you look at any of the pictures or accounts of the numerous pirate attacks in the Persian Gulf you'll notice the extreme lack of weaponry and personnel the pirates possess. I think an 18th century pirate ship would do more damage than today's swashbucklers...

Instead of letting your ships cruise through knowingly dangerous waters unarmed, why not outfit each vessel with one of these...

Or better yet, dual 50 cals!

A few tugs in this baby and the little pirate boats carrying out these attacks would be reduced to floating driftwood and body parts. Problem solved. And I'm sure the pirate bastards planning their next venture in Mogadishu would think twice before trying it again.

The investment would be more than worth it, instead of dishing out millions of dollars to these low life a-holes, only so they can do it again.

A simple solution to an uncomplicated problem.
