In 2011, when the Arab swing was in full force the consensus in the West among liberal circles and in virtually every mainstream media report was that ordinary downtrodden citizens and disenfranchised moderates in the Islamic world were rising up against tyranny and desiring a new era of peace and democracy in the Middle East. The media personalities were virtually salivating over the "heroic" revolutionaries in Egypt rising up against Mubarak. The liberal protesters in Wisconsin were claiming solidarity with their "fellow revolutionaries" in Egypt...as if they were fighting for the same cause. It's all about "freedom"!
Well, look where this glorious revolution has gone. The "peaceful", "moderate", "freedom loving" protesters have torn down a stable American ally and replaced him with an even worse tyranny...the Muslim Brotherhood. In a bout of horrific irony, the people so revered in Egypt by the idiots in the progressive West with little to no knowledge of Middle Eastern geopolitical affairs have turned out to be the exact opposite of what they were perceived as being. The Egyptians didn't want democracy or freedom. They wanted a harsher brand of Islam much the same way the Palestinians wanted Hamas. Now, instead of having a stable, reliable government in Egypt, we have a radical Islamic sect governing the country who will most certainly eventually launch a repeat of the 1967 6 Day War.
Muslims overwhelmingly reject the prospect of democracy. It is incompatible with their religion.
The sooner Europeans and Americans understand this, the better.
